The FCAT Explorer is a comprehensive, interactive instructional support tool that helps students strengthen critical reading and math skills they need in the classroom and in life. Contact your child's school for information on how to access FCAT Explorer.
The FCAT Explorer practice programs and Educator’s Tools support classroom instruction with the convenience of the Internet. Because the FCAT Explorer is delivered via the Internet, public school teachers, students, and parents can use the program from any computer with Internet access that meets the minimum Technical Requirements — at school, at home, at the public library — even while visiting relatives in another state or country.
The FCAT Explorer practice programs do not replace the classroom teacher's initial instruction and skill development activities. Instead, FCAT Explorer programs reinforce this instruction by providing interactive skill practice in an FCAT-like format, providing performance feedback and Learning Guidance. Skill reinforcement is also provided through instructional games in the 4th Grade Reading and 5th Grade Math programs.
While most students will use programs that are on their own grade level, the FCAT Explorer programs can be used for remediation or enrichment. Students in higher grades can use lower-level programs for remediation and accelerated students can use programs above grade level for extra challenge.
Practice activities in the FCAT Explorer practice programs focus on the essential concepts and skills contained within the Benchmarks that are tested on the FCAT. Florida teachers and nationally recognized subject matter experts created all of the practice activities in the FCAT Explorer practice programs so teachers and parents can be confident that students are benefiting from time spent with these programs.
